What If ???
Talks about a recession are becoming more and more recurring in the United States, which means slower business for me. If a recession does happen and I still have the cars that I own now, I will be out of luck. If I do decide to keep the cars, they will fall in value by forty percent, or so. In the news portion of AOL in the biging of the week, they had an article explaining how the prices are going to fall by thirty to forty percent if a recession does happen. The problem for me is to figure out when the recession will happen so that I could sell my cars before it hits. I have to pay close attention to the news and the car market so that I can figure out when to sell. The reason for this is, the cars that I own now are worth lots of money, and I paid for them a hefty price. Let’s say for example, my Mercedes-Benz is worth just over thirty thousand dollars right now and I could sell it easily for $28,000. When a recession hits the car would be worth just blow twenty thousand dollars and I could sell it for about $15,000. That means that I will lose around $13,000 dollars. If I was to sell the car before the recession for $28,000 and then repurchase the same kind of car after for $15,000 I would have the same kind of car and make $13,000. That’s why we all have to be careful during these troubling times.

How I Started: My First Car
My fascination with cars began when all my older friends started to get new cars-and not just any cars, cars with class. This started happening when they got tired of paying loads of money to the dealers, although they were only going to drive the cars for a year or so. Because in my circle of friends no one wants to keep the car for longer than a year and no one especially wants to have the cheapest car of the group. So everyone buys expensive German and Asian cars, like Mercedes-Benz, Audi’s, BMW’s, Infiniti’s and many more. We found that buying and reselling cars is a good way to make money. One of my friends had a Nissan Maxima for a while, sold it, and made some good money off the car and bought himself a Honda S2000 and a BMW 525. The Maxima was the top of its class, and had everything that you could ever need in a car; a navigation system that took us all over the United States and really nice black and red heated racing seats. On the outside, the car was buffed as almost to reflect the sun, and the rims were to die for-twenty inch with low tread tires. The two cars that he replaced with the Maxima were so much better. Honda s2000 is the color of a brand new red Ferrari. It’s a convertible, but that’s not the best thing about it, the best is that it’s a manual stick shift, great for racing “on a closed circuit race track, of course”. The BMW is a tan color as almost black; it’s a four passenger car with lots of extra room so it’s great for long road trips. Inside the car is leather, of course, with navigation that will take us on road trips this summer.
When the time came for one of my best friends to get a better car, he started looking at used cars online, so that he would not have to pay so much at the dealers again. One day when he was going through all the websites with cars, he stumbled on a website where there were a lot of lightly damaged cars for a cheap price. These cars may have been cheap, but the value was high; these cars were top of the line brand new cars with low mileage. One day this brand new Audi A4 pulled up into my long drive way, it’s a bright red with dark tinted windows like the ones you see on limos. I’m thinking the person that’s driving the car must be a millionaire, but when he stepped out it turned out to be my best friend. “Man, I have to know, how much you paid for this sweet ride” I asked him, he just smiled and said “it came out with repairs to fifteen grand”, “but the car is worth over $35,000.” Once he told everyone how cheap his expensive car was our whole circle started buying new lightly damaged cars, and in one year everyone was riding a new car for a cheap price.
When I turned sixteen and got my driver license, I started looking for a new car like all of my friends had. It took me a whole month to find the car that would fit my budget and still be awesome enough to ride with my friends. It was a new Nissan Altima: it was the highest in its class with heated leather seats, a sun and moon roof that was amazing, Bose sound system which is the loudest, clearest and all out best system that is out there, 18 inch chrome rims, and was silver-my favorite color on a car. The best thing that I liked about this car is that I got it really cheap, for $6200, but I didn’t tell anyone that, because the car had some damage to the front of it. I had to replace the front bumper, both headlights, hood, and also the radiator support because it had a crack where the headlight was and could not support the radiators. It came out to be cheap because I replaced all the parts myself. I had to take the car to the body shop to get it painted which cost an extra $350. When the car was all finished and I was ready to take it out on the road, I checked the retail value of it on kellybluebook.com. It was almost $19000 and my car came out to be around $7500, I was really surprised with my savings and happy at the some time.
The year was about to be over, and thought to myself “I can’t believe that it’s time to get a new car”. I started searching for a new car, but it’s not as easy as it used to be. More and more people are catching on, finding out that they can have nice cars for a cheap price. Since I didnt have enough money to buy a new car while I had my current car. I decided to sell this car first, and drive my mom’s Toyota Camry for the time being. I put the car up on autotrader.com so that I could sell it quickly, and in just two days the first person called about the car, and wanted a test drive. After driving the car around the block he was in love with the car, but after giving the VIN number to his brother in law who is a dealer he decided not to buy it because he found out that it had been hit before. The very next day a man called and said he needed a car for his son as soon as possible. I met up with him in half hour he took it for a test drive, and in fifteen minutes the car was in his name and the cash in mine.
It’s an unending circle, I will continue to sell the cars that I have and buy even more expensive and better cars. After selling my first car I had enough money to buy a new car and pay for two quarters of college. I don’t plan to make a career from this; I am only doing this to pay for school. And when I am all finished with school and have a career I will have no need to sell cars anymore. My brother on the other hand is a high school dropout and simply adores cars. When I am all finished he will continue to resell cars to make money.

finding the man
Last week I told you about the guy that installed the windows into my Mazda 6s, and scratched up my car. I could not reach him on the phone, so I decided to go visit his warehouse. He didn’t know that I knew were his warehouse was, it just so happens that last week when I went to the junk yard with my little brother to get him a transmission for his car I saw it next to the junk yard. My brother got himself a 2001 Honda Civic Si, he really liked that car but not for long. He didn’t use his head, because he took the car with some friends to his high school and started drifting, the car slid all over the snow covered parking lot. He slid off the parking lot with one tire instead of stopping and digging himself out; he continued to push on the gas pedal. He forgot one major thing; you can’t have one tire on the car turning and the other one stand still. Doing so can blow the transmission. Going the next day to the junk yard to pick up a transmission and I was amazed to see the warehouse that belongs to Mike, the guy that installed my windows, next to the junk yard. Now knowing were his warehouse was I went over there and started telling him off. After about two hours of arguing he decided to pay for the damage and a little extra to clean the car. It turns out that I got an even bigger discount on my car.

Reciving More Than Bargend For
Last week I bought a 2005 Mazda 6 for sixty three hundred dollars. After the deal with the Infiniti G35 didn’t work out I started looking on auctions for a different car and I found a Mazda that I really liked. The car had one major problem with it, all the windows were busted. Before actually buying the car I called around to see how much it would come out to fix the windows. It turned out to be around eight hundred dollars with one company, that wasn’t too bad I thought to myself the entire car would come out to be around seven thousand dollars or somewhere around there. So that’s a really good deal since the car sells on autotrader.com for around eighteen thousand dollars. So if I decide to sell this car in the future I can make a decent profit from selling the car. When I got the car into my garage it was just as I thought it would be, just the windows wear damaged. So I called the guy that would install the windows for me, he said that he could come out the next day after lunch. I told him that I would be in school but he could come over and I would have someone come open the garage for him. Everything went as planned he came and installed the windows and my mom paid him for the job. When I came home that evening after a late English class to inspect the car, they scratched up the entire car and made it really dirty inside and outside. Now I can’t reach him so I will try to find him and make him give some money back.

lossing great deals
One of the biggest things that frustrates you in making money off of cars is losing a really good deals. This is what happened to me this weekend; I sold a Nissan altima two weeks before made some money but not a lot. So having the money at hand I started searching for a new car to buy, after searching for the whole day online for the perfect car I finally found it at ten o’clock at night. It was the perfect car it was a 2004 Infiniti G35 with only twenty thousand miles on the speedometer, for the low price of six thousand dollars. That is really cheap I though, I looked at the pictures online and the car was perfect it had white heated leather interior, sun and moon roof, a navigation system that hides in the dash board above the boss sound system which had a six cd in dash changer. With small damage to the passenger door it need a few thing. It needs the glass in the door, the trim both on the outside and inside of the car, and also the mirror on the door which was broken off. It only needed one more grand to fix the car, and it would be ready for resale. And the car was not that far from me it was in Indianapolis and I could have sent someone to pick up the car for two hundred dollars. I already made plans to send someone to pick it up this morning. Rented a car and trailer and found they guy that was going to go pick it up, so I was all set. As soon as I woke up this morning I made a phone call to the owner of the car because they were closed on weekends. And I find out that the car was sold and all my plans went down the drain. So today has been a real bad day because I haven’t been able to thing strait for letting to great deal go.
